1. Use of Service

Welcome to Debater. By accessing or using our platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. Our service is provided "as is" and intended for open, real-time discussions and debates.

2. User Content & Opinions Disclaimer

IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER:

Debater is a platform for open expression. We are not responsible for any opinion expressed by any person or community using our service. The views and opinions expressed by users on this platform are solely those of the individual speakers and do not reflect the official policy, position, or views of Debater, its owners, or affiliates.

  • Sensitive Nature of Debates: Due to the open nature of this platform, you will encounter diverse, controversial, and potentially offensive viewpoints. If content hurts your feelings or the feelings of your community, we are not responsible. By joining, you acknowledge the inherent risks of open debate.
  • Platform Neutrality: We do not support, endorse, or oppose any sentiment (whether positive or negative) expressed toward any community or individual. We provide the space; the content is user-generated. If you dislike a specific debate topic or viewpoint, we advise you not to participate in that room.
  • Open Expression: We are open to the expression of all opinions, including those that are politically sensitive or controversial. If exposure to opposing or intense viewpoints makes you uncomfortable, please do not join. Participation is voluntary, and you assume full responsibility for your engagement with sensitive content.

3. Data Collection & Privacy

To provide you with our services, we collect and store account information, device identifiers, push notification tokens, and content you create on the platform, and we process information with the help of a small number of third-party service providers (such as Google, Cloudflare, Amazon Web Services, and DeepSeek AI).

4. User Conduct

Users are expected to conduct themselves civilly. While we support free speech, we prohibit:

  • Illegal activities or promoting illegal acts.
  • Harassment, bullying, or threats against individuals or groups.
  • Hate speech or content that promotes hatred or discrimination against any individual or group.
  • Sexually explicit content, sexual exploitation, or any content involving the sexual abuse of minors. We have zero tolerance for child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and will report it to the appropriate authorities.
  • Impersonation of other individuals or entities.
  • Content that incites violence, terrorism, or dangerous organizations.
  • Exploitation of minors in any form.
  • Spamming or disrupting the service for others.

5. Age Requirement

You must be at least 16 years old to use Debater. If you are between 16 and the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you must have permission from a parent or legal guardian to use the service. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child under 16 has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

6. Child Safety & CSAM Prevention

Debater maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) and the exploitation of minors. Accounts involved in such activity are terminated immediately, and relevant data is preserved and reported to the appropriate law enforcement authorities. Users can report violations via the in-app "Report" option in any room or on any user profile.

7. Reporting & Moderation

We provide in-app mechanisms to report content or users that violate these terms, including harassment, hate speech, sexual content, impersonation, and other prohibited content. Reports are reviewed by our moderation team, and we aim to respond within 24 hours. To report child sexual abuse material (CSAM), please use the in-app reporting mechanism or contact us directly, and we will take immediate action and notify the appropriate authorities.

We reserve the right to remove, filter, or block content that violates these terms and to suspend or permanently ban accounts that engage in prohibited conduct, at our sole discretion.

8. Account Deletion & Data Retention

You may delete your account and associated data at any time from within the app. When you request account deletion, we remove your account information, profile data, and associated device records from our servers. We retain device identifiers and push notification tokens only as long as needed to deliver notifications, and we periodically purge stale device records (e.g., devices not seen within 30 days).

Note: deleting your profile does not delete your posts or messages. If you wish to remove them, delete them before deleting your profile. Any remaining content will be anonymized and will no longer be associated with your profile.

9. Limitation of Liability

Debater provides this platform on an "as is" basis. We make no warranties, expressed or implied, regarding the reliability, accuracy, or availability of the service. In no event shall Debater be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages.

10. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
